Music Tutor

Key Responsibilities

• Music Education: Plan and deliver inclusive music lessons and activities that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of SEN students.
• Creative Engagement: Use music to foster emotional expression, social interaction, and communication in students.
• Individual Support: Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of individual pupils, including one-to-one and small group sessions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate music into the broader educational and therapeutic curriculum.
• Progress Monitoring: Assess and track student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers as required.
• Enrichment Activities: Organise and lead musical performances, workshops, or events to celebrate student achievements and enhance school life.
• Resource Management: Maintain and care for musical instruments and resources, ensuring accessibility for all students.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant music qualifications (e.g., degree in Music or Music Education) or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working with children and young people with SEN is highly desirable.

Skills and Attributes:

• Proficiency in one or more instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, percussion) and ability to teach across various musical styles.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
• Ability to adapt and innovate to meet the unique challenges of working in a SEN environment.
