SEN Teacher

Riley Personnel is recruiting a Qualified Teacher for a specialist SEN school in Croydon. This opportunity is suited to an experienced teaching professional who has worked with sixth-form students and is passionate about helping young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities achieve their potential.

You will play an important role in delivering engaging, accessible learning while supporting students to develop their knowledge, confidence, independence and preparation for adult life.

The Role

Working within a specialist SEN setting, you will contribute to students' educational progress and wider development, adapting your teaching to meet individual needs and abilities.

Responsibilities may include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for sixth-form students.

• Adapting teaching methods and resources to accommodate a range of learning needs.

• Supporting students to develop independence, communication and practical life skills.

• Assessing student progress and identifying areas for further development.

• Creating a structured, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team.

• Contributing to individual learning targets and reviewing student progress.

• Promoting positive behaviour, participation and student wellbeing.

• Supporting students to develop skills relevant to their next steps, including further education, employment and independent living where appropriate.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a qualified teaching professional who can demonstrate:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.

• Previous teaching experience with sixth-form or post-16 students.

• Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, ideally in a specialist setting.

• The ability to differentiate lessons and adapt teaching to meet diverse needs.

• Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.

• A patient, consistent and flexible approach.

• A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and positive student outcomes.

Experience supporting students with autism, communication needs, complex learning difficulties or social, emotional and mental health needs would be beneficial.
