Experienced Teaching Assistants – SEMH Primary School – Hillingdon
Riley Personnel is recruiting experienced Teaching Assistants to join a specialist primary school in Hillingdon supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for confident, patient and resilient support staff who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. The school is looking for individuals who can build positive relationships, support emotional regulation and help pupils engage with their education in a safe and structured environment.
Experience supporting children with behavioural challenges or additional needs is particularly valuable for this role.
The Role
- Supporting primary-aged pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Helping children manage their emotions and develop positive behaviour
- Building trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle to engage with learning
- Supporting classroom activities and adapting to pupils' individual needs
- Implementing behaviour support strategies consistently
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
- Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupil progress
- Maintaining a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is essential
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN or behavioural needs is highly desirable
- Calm, patient, resilient and empathetic approach
- Confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
- Able to build positive relationships with primary-aged children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, proactive and committed to safeguarding
Candidates with backgrounds in SEMH schools, specialist provisions, alternative provision or behaviour support are particularly encouraged to apply.
