A specialist SEN school in Sutton, supporting students aged 7–18, is looking for dedicated, resilient and experienced Teaching Assistants to join its team. There are three full-time, long-term opportunities available for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.
There are three different roles available:
1:1 Teaching Assistant
You will provide individual support to a student, assisting with learning, communication, emotional regulation and daily classroom activities. You will need to be patient, adaptable and confident in providing personalised support to help the student develop independence and achieve their potential.
Skills for Life Class Teaching Assistant
This is a job-share position within the school's Skills for Life class, supporting students to develop practical life skills, communication and independence. This is a particularly challenging class, so the school needs a strong, confident and resilient Teaching Assistant who can manage challenging behaviour, maintain clear boundaries and provide consistent support.
SEN Teaching Assistant with Team Teach/MAPPA Experience
You will support students with additional needs, including those who may display challenging behaviour. Candidates should have Team Teach or MAPPA training and be confident in promoting positive behaviour, using de-escalation strategies and following safe working practices.
The school is looking for compassionate, proactive and reliable individuals who can work collaboratively with teaching staff and build positive relationships with students. Previous SEN experience is essential, and candidates should feel confident supporting young people with a range of additional needs.
All three positions are full-time and long-term, offering the opportunity to become an established member of the school team and make a lasting difference to students' learning, development and independence.
