Are you an experienced Behaviour Mentor looking for a rewarding role in Hounslow? Riley Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support students with SEMH needs from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for Behaviour Mentors, Learning Mentors, Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, Learning Support Assistants, and graduates looking to build a career in education, psychology, social work, or youth justice.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, SEN professionals, and therapists, you'll provide tailored support to pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional, and social interventions.

Behaviour Mentor Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour mentoring sessions.
  • Support pupils with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, trauma-related needs, and other additional needs.
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to re-engage with learning.
  • Support students during lessons, intervention sessions, and throughout the school day.
  • Implement behaviour strategies and contribute to personalised behaviour support plans.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, families, and external professionals.

Behaviour Mentor Requirements

To be successful in this Behaviour Mentor role, you should have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
  • Experience within a school, specialist provision, PRU, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, residential care, or similar environment.
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A calm, patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Experience
